“Cook well. Live long!”

I live by the mantra that a long and healthy life begins in the kitchen and with a few mindful steps you can start to change your diet.

Let’s work together to improve your relationship with food!

Heart-healthy foods that are rich in Omega 3s, whole grain and full of fruits and veggies really can taste great and satisfy.

Eating with wellness should take place everyday - at every meal. Trust me, it takes work, but by with a few simple techniques, you’ll soon be cooking with heart.

Experience

Richard E. Collins, MD, FACC, is nationally known as The Cooking Cardiologist®, he teaches people to cook for a long and delicious life. Dr. Collins’ philosophy is simple, if you know how to cook right, you will eat right. He believes that everyone—regardless of illness or wellness—should enjoy their food, enjoy their lifestyle and take care of their bodies so they live as long as possible.

As Medical Director of the Heart Disease Reversal and Prevention Program in Omaha during the 1990s, Dr. Collins began teaching patients how to make the foods they eat healthier—while maintaining the taste they love. While continuing to practice cardiology, Dr. Collins began learning traditional and new cooking techniques, exploring the world for ingredients to boost flavor, and formulating recipes and demonstrations to help his patients be healthier and get more from life.

He was one of the principle  for the nationally acclaimed Dr. Dean Ornish Lifestyle Demonstration Project and The Heart Disease Reversal Program in Omaha, Nebraska from 1993 to 2003. Dr. Collins continues to give national lectures on cholesterol management and is a part-time lecturer at The University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.

From 2003 - 2017,  Dr. Collins lived in Littleton, Colorado and served as Director for Prevention and Cardiac Rehab for South Denver Heart Center. Dr. Collins continues to collaborate and partner with Dr. Dean Ornish and was a consultant to Sharecare, a Wellness company under the Dr. Dean Ornish Heart Disease Reversal Program specifically with Intensive Cardiac Rehab.

Dr. Collins has appeared nationally on TV and conducts cooking classes across America. He is the author of three nationally known heart healthy books. He is a firm believer in "looking and cooking on the light side" of life.

Dr. Collins can be found in the kitchen creating new recipes or tending to his organic garden.
